I hope everyone had an amazing New Year's...

So that segment of Ashley Dupre’s interview with Diane Sawyer keeps playing over and over again in my head. The part where she kept responding, “Escort” to Diane Sawyer’s “Prostitute.”
I did an interview on CNN with Paula Zahn a few years ago where she tried something similar with me, trying to get me to confess, make the leap and call myself a prostitute instead of an escort. In their segments, both these hosts/journalists (and most media in general) used the word prostitution so many times it was almost mind-numbing.
So, what is the difference? I can easily point out the technicalities: prostitutes barter and receive different amounts of money for different sex acts while escorts are paid by the hour and there is an expectation of companionship.
But what’s really bothering me and why that escort-prostitute exchange is on my mental replay is because we’re being forced into this guilty box. Once Ashley and I conceded and made the sort of ‘confession to prostitution’ the interviews were over and everyone packed up, went home and changed the channel. We were guilty and thrown into a sub-category of society reserved for rapists, thieves and drug dealers. So, I’m calling the media on these coerced confessions and saying I want a retrial. Not personally, I’ve already been to court, but the topic needs to be discussed. Let’s stop pushing away the things that might be uncomfortable to talk about.

Someone (my best friend) decided it would be fun to bring a video camera along to the Montreal book signing. I agreed to it because I mean, when is a video camera ever a bad idea?? lol.

The signing was great. I'd love to say I wasn't nervous, but I really was. My best friend also came up with the best inscription for me to sign:
'Don't do anything I wouldn't do...'
I thought that was so perfect and so there are now at least a hundred copies of The Price signed books with that inscription floating around.

That's a painting of me done by Hulbert Waldroup. The rest of the paintings from our series are in the photo section of The Price.
I love this painting, it makes me look like Wonder Woman. My other favorite painting has me sleepwalking through a snowy forest. Hulbert and I were very close for a long time, I am so thankful he was there for me as a friend.
